Every MSP is running a similar stack. Same RMM. Same PSA. Same monitoring dashboards. Same helpdesk tooling. The category is heavily consolidated, and it's why every provider's website starts to sound the same after five minutes.
We're one of the very small number who don't run someone else's ticketing system
Trustworthy IT built its CRM, security monitoring and alerting, and ticketing tooling in-house, and runs a heavily customised RMM on an open-source base. The three categories we deliberately outsource — EDR, email security, backup — are exactly the ones where independent threat intel and third-party validation matter more than a bespoke build.
Why we did it
Because off-the-shelf MSP tooling was not designed for the way we want to deliver. The default tools optimise for volume — high ticket counts, high tech utilisation, aggressive SLAs measured in first-response time rather than resolution quality. Fine. Not for us.
Our tooling optimises for:
- First-time-right resolution, not first-response speed as a vanity metric.
- Context on tap. When a client rings, the person answering can see everything about that environment in seconds. Not because we're clever — because the tool was built to surface it.
- Nova AI as a first-class citizen, not a plug-in. When a user asks for a password reset, Nova handles it. When it can't, the ticket flows to a human with Nova's context already attached.
- Automation of the boring bits. Onboarding, offboarding, patching, monitoring, alerting — as much as we can automate, without automating away judgment.
Why this matters to you
- Faster. Not by 5%. Materially.
- Cheaper for us to run. Which means our margins don't come out of your service quality.
- More flexible. We can build a workflow you need in a day, not "in a future release."
- Genuinely differentiated. You can tell why one MSP is different from the next in one sentence. Most SMBs can't. That's the industry's problem, not yours.
The honest caveat
Building our own tooling is not "we know better than the big vendors." It's "we know better than the big vendors for a specific delivery model, in a specific market, at a specific scale." Where third-party tools are provably better (EDR, email security, backups) we use them. We're pragmatists, not zealots.
